„One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug“. The book I created is a fragment from Franz Kafka‘s „Metamorphosis“. The scene I chose is Gregor Samsa getting out of his bed. With the help of abstract illustrations and stains I tried to capture the protagonist‘s feelings, his mood, embody the beetlesque existence, which can be felt by all of us at one point in our lives. Did Gregor actually turn into a beetle or is his mind playing tricks on him and it‘s just a hallucination? Rorschach test uses stains to test subjects perception and analyze it‘s emotional functioning and personality characteristics. This is precisely the reason why my book is also filled with stains. I want people looking at the book to question their own sanity and emotional wellbeing.
