Arbitrarily memorable
The works form a series comprising pairs of similarly themed pictures based on scenes that are ‘arbitrarily memorable’—odd instances I remember quite distinctly with little reason but plentiful fondness. The simplicity of those instances inspired me to create visual narratives around the specific scenes, grouping them by individual themes. They offer the main line of narrative but allow viewers the freedom to weave their own unique story with the characters and scenarios shown. This uniqueness is the crux of the storytelling technique employed here. One may say that the purely visual tale is complete only when there is interaction with its viewer.
