A moment in the Аttic

A Moment in the Attic is a series of thirty-one black-and-white photographs, bound together in a handmade block and conceived so that together they form a single whole, while each photograph can survive separately and be viewed individually. The photographs were created as records of the state of the author’s personal space, a refuge where a complete emotional aroma reigns. They deal with the capture of memories, thoughts, ideas, internal conflicts and unrest, absurd desires, transience, reconciliation with oblivion, acceptance of chance, waiting, spiritual freedom, illness, and religion. –

“Oh God, I could be imprisoned in a walnut shell, count myself among the king of endless space, if I didn’t have bad dreams.” William Shakespeare, Hamlet

Just as Sigmund Freud said, one must delve into the unconscious to find meanings hidden in the psyche, so to understand a painting or any other work of art, in this case, a photograph, one must delve into layer upon layer of hidden meanings. In this series of photographs, from deep darkness, light persistently shines, and through this play of light and shadow, with strong contrast, some things in the darkness remain mystical, hidden from the view of others, and the forms of light become almost abstract and unrecognizable to viewers.
