Cold coffee

A project I worked on for around 5 months. It is my first attempt at an art book that explores the intimacy and, often, discomfort of sharing thoughts and emotions that are otherwise manifested in purely isolated conditions.  Out of the five Moleskine books I carried for three years, I chose 40 pages as the foundation for this piece. Although difficult and rather exposing, it was ultimately a freeing experience to work with pre-existing material and explore overlooked potential in it.Creating space for growth both as an artist and as a person in the process of finding worth in something as insignificant and discomforting as one’s tribulations with attaining perspective in life. Even showing this work is challenging in its own right, as it pushes outside the walls we build to avoid subjecting ourselves to more pain or reminders of certain melancholy. To me, it meant finding both visual and lyrical beauty in patheticism and essentially acceding to it. The title I commemorate to a friend who, although I only spent a brief time enjoying the company of, offered sound advice on an occasion, “Don’t warm up cold coffee”. The book was printed using silkscreen printing and acrylic paints. Each page is a combination of up to (and no more than) 6  colors. The photographic images are included. This book is printed in the limited edition of 15 copies though only one book is currently bound.
