The Land of Laughs by Jonathan Carrol is a tale rich in elements from the border between sleep and reality. A world in which the paranormal connects with normal, where fiction mixes with truth. Words, descriptions, and events affect the reader’s imagination and mind so that together with characters, we begin to wonder if we accidentally lost our senses. The main concept is to create a book that surprises and engages readers. Illustrations have a dual function. Firstly, it makes visual aspects of all books, secondly, it makes a pause in text hidden by them.  That form of covering text makes a reader more surprised. I created illustrations that act as a break in the text. On the back of the illustration is a small graphic element important in the text. It’s the same with the cover, also the author’s name is hidden. I wanted more interaction with the recipient so that he could look for information that is usually visible at a glance. The other covers – green and purple, are the idea for publishing a series for other titles of Jonathan Caroll’s novel.
