Dear Kitty

Anne Frank is the most famous Jewish victim of the Holocaust, who despite suffering survived fascism and war thanks to her diary and became a symbol not only of the suffering of Jews in World War II but also of all lonely children and the purity of children’s thoughts. Using the technique of removal, covering up, cutting off unnecessary information, and leaving clearly legible only the thoughts that Anne could entrust to her diary, the genesis of her feelings, their maturation, and mood changes are shown. By emphasizing inner feelings, their experience is intensified. Certain thoughts are additionally emphasized in red to draw special attention to them. As the reading progresses, one goes deeper into her thoughts, and the thoughts become more difficult and complex. In each sentence, one feels anxiety, restlessness, and pressure. The goal of this artist’s book is to make us see how happy we are and to remind ourselves how it is possible to find beauty in small, everyday things. Ana eventually managed to do this despite confinement, darkness, silence, and fear, with one single desire: to see tomorrow through.
